Roger Royse is honored to participate in the 2012 Man of the Year campaign as the leader of "Team Motion to Dismiss Cancer."
Over 140,000 people in the United States were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2011. Those cases of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma accounted for over 9% of new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States in 2011. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)plays an instrumental role in funding research of blood cancer therapies. The United States government is the only entity that spends more money on cancer research than LLS. The money that LLS uses to fund cancer research comes from public support programs such as the Man and Woman of the Year.
Roger, a prominent California attorney and philanthropist, is confident that LLS has and will continue to advance medicine and technology to increase survival rates and improve the quality of life of cancer patients. During the last decade, the FDA has approved many new drugs sponsored by LLS. Such drugs have been used toward the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other types of cancer. In times of heightened scrutiny of government spending, LLS fulfills the need of funding rarer forms of blood disease that have historically received less attention and funding than other more prevalent forms of diseases.
Team Motion to Dismiss Cancer has coordinated meticulous plans to meet the goals of its fundraising campaign. During the ten weeks between March 29 and June 7, the team has plans to organize events such as gatherings, athletic contests, bike tours, art exhibits and high profile auctions to raise money for LLS. Roger is the founder of the Royse Law Firm, PC, a business, tax and corporate law firm with offices in Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
